A midsummer nights feast by the camp-fire, in the wilds of Northumberland

Rewild your week by joining one of our Bats and Pizza Nights at the tranquil, rural glamping site; Wild Northumbrian. This beautiful spot is set in the heart of Northumberland National Park, on the edge of Kielder Forest, and beneath the enchanting celestial blanket of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.

Upon arriving at the Pole Barn you will be greeted by Wild Intrigue guides Heather and Cain and introduced to others who are joining, where you can enjoy a hot or cold drink around the camp-fire. We will then get straight to creating delicious pizzas to cook in the amazing stone-baked pizza oven on site – what toppings will you choose? Cheese? BBQ sauce? Nettle? Pignut..?

Once we’re almost too full to move, we will take a short walk around the site to discover the crepuscular wildlife emerging with the setting sun. Perhaps we’ll hear Tawny Owls calling, Roe Deer barking, the Blackbird’s bedtime melody.

Bat activity reduces from September, so look out for our Bats & Pizza Nights relaunching in late spring 2018!

We will also eavesdrop on fascinating, elusive creatures of the night; Bats! Using detectors, we will take you on a short Bat safari around Wild Northumbrian, where you will learn the different Bat species on site whilst learning what makes these little understood mammals just so intriguing.

With the stars appearing above us, we will return to the Pole Barn to enjoy toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate around the fire, listening to and chatting about all things wild.

Please note that booking is essential and spaces are limited, so grab yours quick!

In addition to enjoying fresh, stone-baked pizzas, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows, we will watch and eavesdrop on the Bats of Wild Northumbrian as they socialise, hunt and go about their usual business.
We will also listen and look for other crepuscular creatures including Owls, Roe Deer, Badger and Moths.
