Join us for a fascinating insight into your nocturnal neighbours!

Using our expertise and skills as bat surveyors, as well as our endless intrigue for bat ecology, we will guide you on a bat safari to introduce you to the sights and sounds of the town’s Chiroptera.

With specialist equipment we will eavesdrop on your local bats; highlighting the diverse and awe-inspiring sounds of different species undertaking various behaviours.

Our Echo Meter Touch 2 PRO, will allow you to be able to hear, and also see the ultrasonic echolocation calls of bats on a colour spectrogram! We will also have heterodyne Magenta 4 detectors for you to use, enabling you to compare two popular models if you are considering purchasing your own bat detector.

Monday 16th July

9:15pm – 10:30 pm

Adults: £6

Under 18’s*: £4

Under 5’s: Free!

Perhaps we will hear the drip-dropping of large Noctules as they pass through their nightly commute, or even the rapid-fire of Daubentons as they hunt invertebrates over the water.

This mini-exped is suitable for all ages. We understand that children are particularly intrigued by the fascinating world of bats so *under 18’s are very welcome to join under supervision of a responsible, paying adult. We have found that children aged 7 and over are able to enjoy and appreciate bat ecology most.

Please note that the route includes walking down concrete steps by the bridge.

Booking is essential and spaces are limited, so please book your places using the form below. We will accept cash payments on the evening. Please note we are not able to accept card payments!

If you have any questions about our Bat Safaris, feel free to get in touch using our Contact Form prior to booking.

It is not only bats who emerge with the setting sun. It is very likely that we will have the opportunity to discover other wildlife on this crepuscular safari. We will be sure to bring our binoculars just in case...

Corbridge Village Car Park, Corbridge, NE45 5AX (free parking!)

You do not need to bring anything with you for this 90 minute mini-exped. Wear comfortable walking shoes, perhaps bring a snack and a warm layer, but we will provide all equipment as well as a boatload of passion for our local bats! Please feel free to bring your own bat detector if you own one.

Book Your Places

I have read the requirements and guidance opposite.

By booking onto this mini-exped, you agree to the following recommendations and guidance.

  • Under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible, paying adult (but we’re sure they’ll love it too!)
  • Adults are entirely responsible for the safety of under 18’s, and should be aware that we will be by the river.
  • Places are limited so we advise you book quickly to avoid disappointment!
  • Bats, and therefore this mini-exped, rely upon suitable weather! Should the weather be unsuitable for bat activity the event will be rescheduled, and you will have first opportunity to join on the altered date.
  • All details you enter into the booking form will be securely stored by Wild Intrigue in the run up to this mini-exped, and will be used for the sole purpose of contacting you regarding any changes to the activity, and to prepare suitably for the numbers and ages of our mini-expedition attendees. We never share your personal information with third parties. By ticking the box as part of your booking you consent to this.
